The mission of the Santee Sioux Nation Food Distribution program, situated in the heart of Santee, Nebraska, within Knox County, is to provide nutritious food assistance to low-income households that meet our eligibility criteria. We are committed to upholding the dignity and well-being of all members of our community by ensuring access to quality, healthy food options. Through our dedicated service, we aim to strengthen our community, support local families in need, and honor the spirit of unity and care that defines the Santee Sioux Nation. Our program is more than a means to meet basic needs—it is a symbol of our collective responsibility to one another, rooted in the values of compassion, respect, and sustainability.
Established under the Food Stamp Act of 1977, the federally funded FDPIR provides U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) foods to:

FDPIR applicants also have to meet certain income eligibility requirements. While most households must be recertified for benefits every 6 months, those with older adults and individuals who have a disability may be certified for up to 12 months.
